Who we are

Teachers from around the world, serving Alberta's schools.

AITC-CEIA's mission is to bring together the strengths, skills and resources of its members to help improve students' educational success, support parents and advance the teaching profession.

Born in 2017 from mentoring student teachers at Campus Saint-Jean, the collective now supports its members, future teachers and immigrant families.

Our motto: “Together, we are stronger!”

Every branch of our tree carries an experience, a language, a journey. Together they form a strong support for students and their families.

History

From a few mentored student teachers to a recognized collective.

2017

Where it began

Education students from Campus Saint-Jean tell us how hard it is to complete their practicum. Two of our members, with three to four years of experience mentoring student teachers, step in to help.

2018

Parents join the picture

The student teachers also tell us about the challenges immigrant parents face. More members join in and the first information sessions for families begin.

2022

An official organization

In April 2022, we incorporate under our legal name: Alberta Immigrant Teachers Collective (AITC) / Collectif des Enseignants Immigrants de l'Alberta (CEIA).

2022–2026

Workshops every season

Observation, fall and winter practicum preparation, job interviews, provincial exams: 58 workshops and information sessions held.

2026

Today

With 61 member teachers, AITC-CEIA supports student teachers and immigrant families and is preparing its 2026-2027 action plan.
